The Western
Wall
By Matt and Reilly, Cape Elizabeth,
grade 5
In Israel, there are many great walls and monuments, but the greatest
of them all is the western wall. The western wall is located in Jerusalem, the
capital of Israel.
This wall was built by the ancient jews. They built the wall
to be part of which was to be the last vestige of the second Judaism temple.
People put notes in the cracks of the wall. These notes have wishes or prayers
to their god. This talking wall is not like other talking walls because the
"conversations" are silent. No one reads the notes that people stick
into the wall cracks. The notes they write are talking to God.
Another name for this wall is The wailing wall. It is called
this because people cry and pray there since it is a very important wall. The
western wall is also located near the site of the holy sepulcher.
Many people from around the world visit here, just to see
the great Western wall.
QUESTIONS:

3.Would you want to help the wall
stay in good condition?
4. Would you want to keep this wall
standing if it were your choice?
