Extended School Care
Community Services offers children from kindergarten through fifth grade
social, educational and recreational opportunities. Field trips, crafts,
specials in art, music and computers along with a daily snack are included
in tuition fees. An experienced teacher acts as the program director with
other qualified adults and student assistants completing the staff.
'Escapade' mentors help all kids participate in Community Services activities
Escapade is a program offered by the Community Services that
matches high school and adult mentors with younger children who could benefit
from some assistance in order to successfully participate in extra curricular
activities.
Community Services offers many
opportunities for your student to be involved in an extra curricular activity.
Escapade has trained mentors eager to accompany your student to an activity
if he/she might benefit by having a companion or helper. The mentors are
trained to encourage the students to be as independent as possible and often
merely serve as a help in refocusing the students. The mentors work directly
with the specific program director and with you, the parents. The school
staff is always available, with your permission, to offer guidance to the
mentors as well.
If you would like to request a mentor to help your student have a positive
experience in an after-school activity, please call youth program coordinators Leslie Young or Kelly Phinney at Community Services, 799-2868.
Also please call if you are wondering if Escapade would be a good match for
your student.
