Maroon Medal Society

The goals of the Maroon Medal Society are to reward outstanding students of Cape Elizabeth High School for their achievement in scholarship, service, leadership, and sports and to promote greater student participation in all activities conducted by the school.

Members are not selected; they earn their membership by accumulating a minimum of 180 points based on a system which assigns a point value to all qualifying activities. No more than 50 points may be awarded in the scholarship category. Applications are available in early April to any student, but generally juniors and seniors are able to qualify.

Students who have not conducted themselves as good school citizens will be denied membership.

Mock Trial

The Mock Trial activity has proven to be an effective and popular part of a comprehensive, law-focused program designed to provide students with an operational understanding of the law, legal issues, and the judicial process. Part of the appeal of a mock trial is the fun involved in preparing for and participating in a trial. Mock trials are exciting, but more importantly, they provide invaluable learning experiences.

National Honor Society

Membership in the National Honor Society is one of the highest honors that can be awarded to a high school student. The National Honor Society of Cape Elizabeth High School is a duly chartered and affiliated chapter of this prestigious national organization. Honorees are selected by a 5-member Faculty Council, appointed by the principal. Each spring members of the Faculty Council bestow this honor upon qualified students on behalf of the faculty of Cape Elizabeth High School.

The National Honor Society strives to recognize students who have demonstrated excellence in each of the following areas: Scholarship, Leadership, Service, and Character. Students in the 11th and 12th grades whose grades meet certain standards are eligible for consideration. A notification letter and a copy of the chapter bylaws will be mailed to the home of each eligible candidate. For more details, see the CEHS chapter's website (click here.)

Student Government (SAC)

The SAC (Student Advisory Council) is an elected body that advises CEHS administration on matters of interest to the student body. Officers for each class are elected each spring, as well as the President and two School Board Representatives who attend Cape Elizabeth School Board meetings and speak to the Board about items of interest to students.
