The Middle School has a number of course offerings for students in grades 5-8 and tries to encourage diversity of thinking and exploration of one's abilities, interests and special talents. A rigorous academic program is offered including language arts, science, social studies, a diversified math program and world languages for all students. Specialists exist in art education, music education, physical education, instructional support, gifted education, industrial technology, health education, guidance and library services. An extensive interscholastic and extracurricular program is offered throughout the school year. A wide array of after-school programs is available to students including the yearbook, student council, computer club, math team, speech and debate, world language club, and art opportunities. Fifth grade students are introduced to band instruments and to the choral program. For those interested in the seventh and eighth grade sports program, plenty of choices exist. Additionally, Community Services also offers a variety of programming to Middle School students. The Middle School library contains more than 10,000 volumes and more than 50 periodicals with an average circulation of 75 pieces per day and extensive daily research. A comprehensive library skills program is offered to all students. Outdoor facilities include a baseball diamond, soccer/field hockey field, a track and other playing areas. The entire building complex underwent a major renovation/new building project completed in 1995. Class size recommended by the School Board is no more than 22. School Hours:
