School Board and School Board District Goals – 2010

School Board Goals adopted Feb. 9, 2010 committee or person responsible. Each item is followed by the name of the person or group responsible for that goal:

CAPE ELIZABETH SCHOOL BOARD GOALS

  1. Evaluate effectiveness of technology integrators and technology in the classroom and use
    of technology integrated in teacher evaluations.

    TEACHING & LEARNING/ HUMAN RESOURCES COMMITTEE

  2. Continue the systematic analysis of district programs and services.
    TEACHING & LEARNING COMMITTEE

  3. Review staff professional development to maximize utilization of district resources and
    impact on student learning.

    HUMAN RESOURCES COMMITTEE

  4. Evaluate and report on a regular basis progress on Board goals
    CHAIR

  5. Examine plans and implementation of student transitions between schools.
    TEACHING & LEARNING COMMITTEE

  6. Maximize all potential funding sources.
    FINANCE COMMITTEE

  7. Develop a coalition with other district boards to brainstorm, collaborate on initiatives and
    advocate for public education.

    BOARD CHAIR & LEGISLATIVE COMMITTEE

  8. Support an examination of district climate through workshops resulting in recommended
    action plans.

    TEACHING & LEARNING AND WELLNESS COMMITTEES

  9. Develop Annual Report on school achievements to School Board.
    COMMUNICATION COMMITTEE

  10. Hold “Key Communicator” breakfasts on quarterly basis with community organizations.

CAPE ELIZABETH SCHOOL BOARD
DISTRICT GOALS

  1. Build strong communication network among district school organizations (i.e.,
    boosters, parent associations, etc).
  2. Obtain adequate funding necessary to provide the quality education our
    community expects for its children. (Ascertain that the district is receiving
    maximum funding possible under EPS and make all efforts to receive Race To
    The Top funding.)
  3. Strengthen staff evaluation procedures to be able to recognize teachers who
    demonstrate outstanding effectiveness.
  4. Utilize student learning measurement standards that will facilitate performance
    comparisons on a national basis.
  5. Examine synthetic phonics programs for K-2 and determine economic and
    educational viability.
  6. Evaluate all staff positions for effective use of resources.
  7. Provide outdoor learning experience for active learners.
  8. Establish annual goal setting process for the district which will provide the basis
    for the utilization of its human and financial resources.
  9. Continue the work of the Curriculum Management plan/Curriculum Instruction
    and Assessment
  10. Collaborate with other districts on cost sharing/learning opportunities.
