CEMS is proud to announce that they have been selected to host Texas-based composer JaRod Hall for the Beyond the Notes 2025 ComMission Possible Project’s World Premiere performance. This special artist residency will take place on May 7th and 8th, culminating in the World Premiere performance on May 8th at 7:30 p.m. in the CEHS Auditorium — and we warmly invite you to join us for this memorable event.

  • Middle schools from across the country have been participating in this national commissioning project, but CEMS was honored as the sole school selected to host Mr. Hall and present the premiere of his newest work.

  • The piece, entitled Tock (inspired by the "tick-tock" of a clock), symbolizes the passage of time and the growth and maturation of middle school students — a powerful and fitting theme for this project.

  • Throughout the fall, the 8th grade band, along with other participating schools, engaged in creative activities that helped inspire the composition. Over the course of the year, students also received exclusive video updates from Mr. Hall, offering a behind-the-scenes look at the compositional process.

The CEMS band looks forward to sharing this incredible experience with you and celebrating our students' hard work and creativity. Don’t miss this special evening on May 8th!
