The U.S. Department of Education has named six Maine students as semifinalists in the 2025 U.S. Presidential Scholars Program. The national program recognizes seniors across the country as being among our nation’s most distinguished graduating seniors.
In January, more than 6,000 total candidates were selected from nearly 3.9 million students expected to graduate from U.S. high schools in the year 2025 (112 candidates named in Maine, 6 from CEHS). From this group, 621 U.S. Presidential Scholars Semifinalists were chosen through an application process focused on academic success, leadership, service to school and community. The semifinalists form the pool from which up to 161 students will be chosen a 2025 U.S. Presidential Scholar.
The scholars represent excellence in education and the promise of greatness in America’s young people.
Created in 1964, the U.S. Presidential Scholars Program honors the nation’s top-performing students during the online National recognition Program in June.
