In light of recent events across Maine and in our community, it is important for us to share with you concerns we have relative to students boarding the bus at bus stops. Some students who are late getting to the bus stop are making the wrong choices with regard to their safety. So, the hope is that by having students follow these tips, accidents can be avoided.
For Students:
NEVER chase after the bus if it is at the bus stop or pulling away from the bus stop.
DO NOT walk or run along the side of the bus.
NEVER approach the bus from the rear of the bus.
If you are not at the assigned stop, ready to board the bus when the bus arrives at the stop, you have missed the bus and need to make other arrangements to get to school.
For Parents:
PLEASE support your student’s requirement to be at the bus stop at least 5 mins before the assigned time. It’s been observed this year that many students are waiting until the last minute before arriving at the stop. It is impossible for the bus to arrive at each stop at exactly the same time everyday. If your student is not clear as to when to be at the stop, have them speak with their bus driver.
