Please save the date, register, and come together as a community for an untimed 5K run/walk benefiting Andrew “Sal” Perruzzi. Sal, a CEHS junior and cross country team member, was recently diagnosed with T-cell lymphoma. All proceeds will go directly to the Perruzzi family. This event is student led and organized by the 2023 CEHS cross country team captains and the Class of 2024 student council. The race is set for May 28th at 9:00 a.m. and will start at Cape Elizabeth Middle School, following the same 5k course utilized by the Turkey Trot and Cape Challenge. Race t-shirts will be provided to registered participants. Sal is known for sporting his signature shades while running, so we ask that all participants race in sunglasses. General donations may also be made on the registration site. Come together, cherish each day, do good, Run for Sal!

As you may remember, we had two finalists for he 2023 Maine Literary Award!! Please join us in congratulating Sashi Kaufman on her win!

The Special Olympic team with their entourage traveled to Bonny Eagle for the Cumberland County Track and Field Meet on Friday May 12. Henry Adams, Allison Brooking, Emily Whalen, Maddie Mills and Evan Zack all earned ribbons for the 100m, 50m, shot put and standing long jump. They displayed great sportsmanship and teamwork throughout the event. The entourage did a great job supporting and cheering on the athletes. Thanks to everyone's effort the day was great fun and a huge success.

Happy Teacher Appreciation Week! This is how truly appreciated you are in your community!

Emails from Cape Elizabeth sent through Swift should now be delivered to your Inbox. Thank you very much to those parents and community members who reached out to us.

While we are working on resolving an issue with emails sent through one of our vendors, we want to make sure that everyone has up to date information.
We have posted two Feature Articles on the exciting Chewonki trip for 8th graders on the Middle School web page.

End of the Year Updates
The last day of school for our 5th Grade students will be Thursday, June 15th. This is as a result of our 5th graders coming to school for the ½ day before other students came, last fall.
The last day for our other students is Friday, June 16th. This is a half day for 6th and 7th graders.
Our 8th graders will have their end of middle school celebration that morning and will be dismissed directly after that is over.

We are still working on resolving an issue that is causing some of the emails coming from Cape Elizabeth to be marked as SPAM. Please check your SPAM folders for emails. We have made relevant changes to help resolve the issue, but this may take time to propagate.

CEMS has not 1 but TWO finalists for the 2023 Maine Literary Award!!

Recently, I heard from a couple of parents concerned because emails from Cape Elizabeth Schools are being marked as SPAM and moved to their SPAM folders.
We are working on resolving the issue.

This afternoon, 4/24/23, all outdoor practices are canceled at CEMS. Track and Softball will still have an indoor practice. Thank You!

Dr. Record really enjoyed reading Clovis Keeps His Cool to Mrs. Carey's Kindergarten class on Wednesday. He was very impressed with their curiosity, engagement, and insightfulness. Mrs. Carey has guests reading to her students all month as part of a March Madness fun book competition. Sadly though, this book did not make it to the next round. Therefore, Supt. Record had to keep his cool!

Cosette Spier, Grade 12, has a photo at Portland Museum of Art's annual Youth Art Month Exhibit which showcases Maine's art education programs in collaboration with Maine Art Education Association (MAEA). Attached is Cosette's (Coco's) photograph.

Pond Cove Chess Club Wins! Huge congratulations to the Pond Cove Chess Club who travelled to Lewiston, ME to compete in the State Team Championship chess tournament against other elementary schools. The team earned 2nd place in the tournament scoring 14.5 points!! Silvio Cimato had a perfect score of 4-0 to lead the team and Theo Reichl scored 3.5 out of 4 points. This was particularly impressive since most of the team is made up of second graders and their opponents were primarily fourth and fifth graders. Holton Kang, Jack Mavodones, Adrian Reichl, and Charlie Glennon rounded out our second place team. Way to go!!
